The Nutcracker

An abridged picture book version of the beloved fairy tale that is just right for reading aloud. Jeffers, who is perhaps best known as the illustrator of the McDuff books by Rosemary Wells, depicts a lush Christmas fantasy world filled with graceful ballerinas and only slightly scary mouse soldiers. A fine choice for young readers who might be put off by the heft of the original story.
