It’s all for the love of the game…

The Brooklyn Nine by Alan Gratz

Brooklyn Nine by Alan Gratz

Felix is a young German immigrant in the 19th century Manhattan. He is fast on his feet, using his speed to be a successful messenger boy and a good baseball player. When Felix is injured in the Great Fire of 1845, he can’t play the game any longer, but he can pass the love of it down to his son. His son, Louis, also loves baseball and shows compassion to a Confederate soldier who shares the same passion. The story perseveres through nine generations of Felix’s family, describing a member from each generation and what the love of the game means to them. Readers are privy to a historical saga as for a century and a half, baseball’s enduring spirit defines this family.
