Murder, mayhem, and a teenaged sleuth in northern Michigan make this a must-read.

The Morgue and Me by John C. Ford

The Morgue and Me by John C. Ford

The summer after he graduates from high school, Christopher Newell finds himself working as a janitor at the local morgue. He doesn’t mind the job: sure, it’s a little creepy, but it’s easy and doesn’t take up too much of his time. Everything goes smoothly, until he discovers a cover up involving a body, thousands of dollars in cash, and possibly local law enforcement. Christopher knows the only person he can trust is local reporting dynamo Tina McIntyre, who is too old for him but a total hottie nonetheless. Christopher and Tina race around Petoskey, MI trying to solve the crime. As the summer runs down, time is running out, and the two of them must solve the mystery before it’s too late.

If you like hard boiled mysteries with a teen sleuth, try Huge by James Fuerst.
