The Christmas Cookie Club by Ann Pearlman
Bring 13 baker’s dozen (1 complete set to go to charity), a dish for dinner, a bottle of wine, and your cookie story.
These are the most basic rules for The Christmas Cookie Club. I was impressed with Michigan-author Ann Pearlman’s fiction debut which tells the interrelated stories of 12 women who come together every Christmas to share cookies and stories. But it’s not about the cookies, it’s about the friendship that ties this group of very different women together. The stories are moving, and the setting is very real (Ann Arbor, MI). Recipes are included along with vignettes for major ingredients to the cookies (Ginger, Chocolate, etc.) that also pull out details about the baker and some of her relationships within the group.
If you liked Jennifer Chiaverini ( The Quilter's Apprentice), Karen Joy Fowler ( The Jane Austen Book Club), or Kate Jacobs ( Friday Night Knitting Club) give this holiday story a try.
