Case Histories
by Kate Atkinson
Jackson Brodie is an ex-cop and a struggling P.I. whose case load shifts from famine to feast when three new cases suddenly walk through his door. Case one: Three-year-old Olivia Land disappeared thirty years ago. Her two sisters want to reopen the case when they find Olivia’s favorite (and missing) toy in their father’s desk shortly after his funeral. Case two: In 1994, Laura Wyre was working in her father’s law office when a man in a yellow golf sweater slashed her throat. Case three: A fight with her husband was the last straw for new mother Michelle Fletcher. She split his head with an axe, served the time and disappeared.
The real payoff for the reader? Finding out how these three case histories are related.
