Charles Mead Drawings
Born November 3, 1843 Charles Mead’s family came to Lansing from Farmington, Michigan in 1852. As an entrepreneur Charles was involved in many business ventures. In addition to his Storage Company and patent medicine manufacturing, he was a professional photographer, sign painter, contributor to the local paper, owned a dry good business and was partners in photograph and art gallery, Mead & Jennings. Charles produced advertisements for his and other businesses as well, drawing cartoons as part of the ads. This collection of drawings was part of his personal collection, and donated to the library at part of the JP Edmonds Collection. Charles died November 4, 1912, a day after his 69th birthday.
