Helen J. Earley Lansing Automotive Collection
A collection of newsletters, publications, books, oral histories, photographs for and about Oldsmobile and GM vehicles.
Helen J. Earley was
known as the First Lady of Oldsmobile. Her six decade career at
the automaker and work preserving its history is well documented. The
legacy she created exists in numerous collections; the Detroit Public
Library National Automotive History Collection, the GM Heritage Center,
in collections at the State Archives of Michigan, at the Library and
Research Center for the Antique Automobile Club of America, in the
Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame, at the RE Olds Transportation Museum and
in the Helen J. Earley Lansing Automotive Collection.
This collection is a portion of the voluminous Olds collection she amassed over several decades. It was supplemented on her request after she passed. Described as one of the best ambassadors for the company she co-authored two books on Olds, and with her co-author James Walkinshaw, conducted what was at the time the largest oral history program for a single U.S. corporation.
