Volunteer @ Your Library

The Capital Area District Library welcomes volunteers at the Library. Here is all the information you will need to volunteer at your local library.

A CADL Volunteer

Working under the supervision of library staff, volunteers provide valuable support and assistance. Not all activities are available at all times or at all locations.

To apply, fill out and sign a Volunteer Application Form (PDF*) or Court Appointed Community Service Application Form (PDF*), indicate which opportunity you are applying for and send the completed form to:

Current Openings

Book Burrow Volunteers

Who: Any person who can spare 1 to 2 hours per week and would enjoy being in the atmosphere of books and reading. There will be an application to fill out and an alphabetical knowledge test required.
What: Volunteers are always needed to shelve and straighten books, plus those with prior cashier experience are always welcome.
Where: Book Burrow (Downtown Lansing Library Basement)
When: During the Book Burrow's open hours only every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Shelving Volunteers

Who: 3-4 volunteers who are available 2-3hrs per week. Alphabet and Decimal understanding required.
What: Volunteers are needed to shelve books and dust the shelves. Volunteers will be trained.
Where: Downtown Lansing Library - Parking will be paid for!
When: Any time between 9am and 7pm.
